String of motor vehicle accidents possibly caused by drunk driver

Arizona Interstate 10 was shut down for hours following a recent tragedy. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on a Saturday, and witnesses say the accident appeared to have been caused by a drunk driver. When motor vehicle accidents like this one end in fatalities, many lives are usually changed forever.

A 26-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a car moments before the horrific accident occurred. At some point, her vehicle apparently slammed into the rear end of another car, sending it through a nearby barrier and into oncoming lanes of traffic. Several other vehicles were involved in the collision as well.

Sadly, two occupants in the first car that was hit died as a result of their injuries. Another person, whose car was hit by the young woman's car in a secondary impact, also suffered injury. As is often the case in such situations, debris was flying everywhere, reportedly hitting several other motor vehicles in the process.

The driver who was deemed to have caused the accident was reported by witnesses as exhibiting behaviors common to drunkenness. Police must have agreed with these assessments because the woman was later placed under arrest by officers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Surviving family members of fatal accident victims in this state can file wrongful death claims in civil court to seek justice against those believed responsible. A logical first step to take for anyone considering filing such a claim is to discuss the issue with an experienced personal injury attorney.
